We provide hospitality and commercial real estate clients with the planning and execution expertise necessary to successfully lead projects from concept through completion. A boutique company with a vast network of resources, Compass offers a wide range of services to help our clients acquire, develop or transform their properties to maximize asset value. Jim Zaun

Jim Zaun founded Compass Development Services, LLC in 2009. Since its inception, Compass has successfully worked with a diverse group of clientele, leading their development, design, and construction efforts for acquisitions, re-development, new construction and significant renovation projects. Prior to forming Compass, Jim led Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ Project Management Team, developing and executing renovation projects at nearly all of Starwood’s owned assets. Jim has over 25+ years experience in hospitality development, construction, and operations. He understands the critical link between these disciplines, and that ensuring their alignment will ultimately lead to successful projects.

Vice Present

Mark Bohlman

Mark joined Compass to lead the design and development of all high profile projects for the firm. His primary area of expertise is in the programming, design, and construction of complex hotel renovation projects with aggressive schedules and operational challenges. Prior to joining Compass, Mark was Senior Vice President at TM Davis and Associates, a hotel and casino project management firm based in San Francisco. In his ten years at TM Davis, Mark successfully led all major projects from concept through construction close-out and operations turnover. Mark also has significant experience in Technical Services, for a multitude of brands. He previously worked with Jim Zaun at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and helped build the Technical Services team and refine A&E; standards for the company.
Project Manager

Anthony Piazza

Anthony Piazza brings to Compass 25 years of Management experience in the Construction and Property Restoration Industry. Anthony manages multiple projects and key client relationships over a vast nationwide portfolio with a primary focus on the west coast. His professional capability supports a knowledge of construction, project development, management and executive level vision. Through years of experience, and notable exposure in the hospitality industry, Anthony is uniquely suited to integrate into any environment and communication structure. This ability is a true asset to all of our clients who require engaging with outsourced entities. Prior to joining Compass, he spent 12 years with BELFOR Restoration, the world’s largest commercial restoration firm. Anthony has also managed several large, multinational accounts, specifically helping those clients with their North American needs. Throughout his career, Anthony has serviced his clients on all measures and types of projects, from very small and very remote…to those exceeding $20m. Several clients who have benefited from Anthony’s management include: CBRE Global, CBRE Asset, WALMART, JPMorgan CHASE, USBANK, Alliance Residential and BBVA Compass.
Project Manager

Corey Harris

Corey joined Compass to direct renovations throughout the East Coast and across North America, bringing a solid background in construction and estimating to the team. Corey is currently managing renovations at multiple full service hotels including Westin, Embassy Suites and Hilton, as well as various select service hotels. His expertise surrounding PIPs and developing Master Budgets have made him a vital asset to our team. In addition to planning and executing multiple renovations in our client’s portfolios, Corey is leading exterior re-imaging rollouts for Courtyard, Hampton Inn & Suites and Spring Hill Suites. Prior to joining Compass, Corey worked at Alliance Residential, one of the largest private U.S. multi-family companies with assets exceeding $10B. At Alliance, Corey managed all Design and Construction efforts of over 9,000 units on the east coast. He was directly responsible for all capital improvements in the $200M portfolio and led the due diligence teams reviewing capital costs for all potential acquisitions.
Associate Project Manager

Amy Todd

Amy recently joined Compass to assist the Project Team in the planning and execution of all projects. More specifically, she assists the Project Managers in the scope development, contractor walk-throughs, FF&E management and quality control. Her wide range of job duties also include contract management, general cost accounting, invoice and pay app processing, change order administration, and generating cost reports. Prior to joining Compass, Amy was a Hotel General Manager at several branded properties through the Southwest
